Kodie’s Kids: Creating Heroes by Funding Education for Out-of-Home Youth

Kodie’s Kids, Tomorrow’s Heroes has a dual mission, both related to providing tools and training in the public safety space.

  • Provide youth of the Indiana foster system the financial means to receive the education for a career helping save the lives of others. This funding is for the youth who have selected a public Safety certification or license program and are not eligible for Title IV-E funds.
  • Provide volunteer departments with funding to acquire training mannequins and accessories to enhance the learning experience for volunteers.


Recipient Criteria for Youth

  1. Currently or previously in foster care (out-of-home placement or program)
  2. 17 to 23 years of age
  3. Compassion and strives to do the right thing
  4. Wishes to enter or extend a career saving lives - typically EMS, fire service or police.
  5. Not currently receiving other scholarships

Kodie’s Kids, Tomorrow’s Heroes, Inc is a a resource for DCS, Collaborative Care and other out of home fostering programs when working with youth the case managers believe meet the criteria for scholarship. Youth who complete the EMT program successfully should apply for the $2,000.00 Paramedic scholarship.

Recipient Criteria of Volunteer Fire Department

  1. Volunteer fire departments with little to no income.
  2. Need for in-house training programs.
  3. Promote and foster youth engagement as part of regime
